Sangre Sunrise, Acrylic on 24x24x2 Custom wood panel, $590 (SOLD)
My latest painting is based on a photo and small oil painting done, after a brilliant sunrise over the Sangre de Christo (Blood of Christ) mountains one misty morning in 2014. I pulled it out of my old photos to paint at random, or so I thought.
In this version, I found myself drawn to the blue sky and brilliant yellow behind the crimson clouds. Then it hit me like a brick... that much blood was about to be shed by Guardians of Democracy in Ukraine… but the life giving Sun and endless blue skies will return from the darkness and mist some day as certain as the sun also rises! I am supporting relief organizations and one of my friends who is over there driving people out of Ukraine into Poland. I hope you are finding some way to join these Guardians of Democracy as they face down Putin's army.
