Was Redon a disciple of Dali? Or maybe 60s hippie art student on acid? Nope, Odilon Redon (20 April 1840 – 6 July 1916) was a French symbolist painter, printmaker, draughtsman and pastellist. I see him as a pioneer of color driven compositions, foreshadowing art superheros like Dali, Chagall and the psychedelic art of the 1960's.
I decided to start a new art series paying tribute to "My Art Heros." I will be doing some blogs, written and video, and some new digital compositions exploring their influence and inspiration for a new generation of digital native artists. I've added a page on my website and a collection at my printer, Fine Art America. Take a look at ideas for other artists and stay tuned for more on Odilon Redon.
The image below combines three of this paintings, Self Portrait, Joan of Ark, Flower Clouds and some digital magic!
