Georges Seurat (2 December 1859 – 29 March 1891) was a French post-Impressionist artist. He is best known for devising the painting techniques known as chromoluminarism and pointillism. Today we might call him a pixelator... combining pixels of pure color so the eye will blend them into the desired hue and value. I have converted his self portrait and a painting of Bathers at Asnières into pixels to see what it would look like... it has the same effect but bolder since there is no white space between the dots!
