My dominant feeling after my first solo show at Collected Works Bookstore is gratitude! I am thankful to Dorothy and Mary for the opportunity and their support. I enjoyed both hanging my art there and working there. The abstract landscape was birthed right there in the coffee shop! I am thankful the art lovers who enjoyed my work and humbled by those who put down some hard earned cash to buy the 10 pieces that sold!
While angst fuels much of modern art, gratitude opens our awareness and appreciation to all the sources of inspiration that surround us. The composition of this abstract landscape was inspired by a photo of a stream on a walk with good friends in Denver. The thankfulness we all had in being together made the three photographers among us, more aware of the beauty surrounding us, especially the small details missed by those speeding by, talking on their cell phones! Artists who slow down, open up and appreciate all the gifts that go into any creation, have a rich spring to drink from!
