The Dragonstone open house was a smashing success on all fronts according to both the artists and the community. Many calls for more events like this from both groups. Art has always been and always will be incubated in the context of community. While some artists work in solitude, they are shaped and their work is shaped by the community they were raised in and by their contemporary experiences of life in the world. My own family (wife and children) encouraged me to move my studio from the house to some kind of artist community where I could explore my new vocation in deeper, more connected ways. I was blessed to stumble into Dragonstone. I have found this to be a place where I am challenged, encouraged and needed as part of a larger effort to spread the love of art in Santa Fe. Moving out and moving here is the catalyst that has launched my art vocation in a healthy trajectory of personal and professional growth. Thanks to all who have supported me along the way. I hope you each find the place where you can experience the same!
